On the East coast of Madagascar, the best fishing season is between October and May. July - August - September is the period where the humpback whales stay in the channel of Sainte Marie. The boats of HSM fleet are then used for the safari whales, there's no more fishing in order not to wound the big mammals.

At Sainte Marie, fishermen will be able to practice many kinds of fishing.

Our skippers and guides are familiar with many techniques: coastal dragnet, long-lining, deep-sea dragnet, surfcasting or popper. We normally set the catches free but the customer can keep the fish if he wants.
